Residential Deputy Manager

About the role

The Residential Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care at Summerhill View Care Home. This role combines supervisory duties with hands‑on care, working across day and night shifts as needed.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all staff, ensuring compliance with Care Inspectorate standards and internal policies.
• Plan rotas, process payroll, and manage recruitment and safe recruitment processes.
• Conduct admission assessments, support discharge planning, and act as the on‑call deputy in the manager’s absence.
• Deliver personal care tasks in line with care plans, promoting resident independence and dignity.
• Monitor resident health, identify deterioration, and coordinate appropriate interventions.
• Maintain accurate documentation, attend multidisciplinary meetings, and mentor junior staff.

Required profile

• Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the relevant regulatory body for the jurisdiction.
• Strong organisational, observational and communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Knowledge of care home regulations and health‑promotion practices.
• Competence in completing mandatory training and maintaining fitness‑to‑practice standards.
• Experience in staff supervision, performance management and conflict resolution.
