Employee Relations, Risk and Benefits Manager

About the role

The role provides strategic leadership and support to the Country Head of People and Culture and the People and Culture teams in Employee Relations, overseeing compliance with labour legislation, union requirements, and managing employee benefits and risk governance across Standard Bank Offshore.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Employee Relations function, ensuring compliance with labour laws, basic conditions of employment and union obligations.
• Oversee administration and execution of employee benefits, ensuring effective governance and a positive employee experience.
• Develop, implement and review People and Culture risk policies, assessments, controls and governance frameworks.
• Support ad‑hoc People and Culture initiatives and coordinate risk and governance activities across multiple jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Post‑graduate degree in Legal studies or CIPD Level 5; additional qualification in conciliation and arbitration is a plus.
• 5‑7 years of HR experience, with at least 5 years in Employee Relations at a management level.
• Experience handling grievances, disciplinary matters, drafting employment contracts and collective agreements.
• Background in a multi‑national environment covering at least two jurisdictions; union negotiation experience is advantageous.
